I made a gantt chart so I that I could plan the steps of making my film and when each step would be taken. This gantt has helped to keep me organised.
i made this mind map to explore my ideas and think about how I could fit them into my film. Some of my ideas were not put into the film as it was either difficult to do or just not worth putting in. For example flowers and love letters wouldn't fit into my film as they are more planned things where as my film is trying to represent that love and friendship is very unexpected. Also we decided to film in the Leaf as we then had access to the kitchen and bar so we could use the items in there. As well as making the coffee shop scene more realistic as Laila is wearing an apron. I decided to cast two females so that my film could have more of a modern outlook. The use of a homosexual couple will broaden my target audience and may appeal to people with the same interests. I wanted it to challenge the typical view of a normal relationship.
I made a survey so I could see what interested people and what makes a good romantic film. It was almost 50/50 to people who like romantic films to people who don't. People have said that they like when there is a happy ending, so I made sure that my film ended where they fall in love.
My filmed used a few props which were easily accessible in the Leaf as I only really needed props to emphasise that they were in a coffee shop. I used a mug, note pad and a apron to represent the coffee shop environment. The apron was used to clearly show that Laila was working there. I also used Eloise's keys to bring them both together in the film. They played an important role in the film as they are the reason they ended up together. I wanted it to be a very casual meet so that it would seem realistic to the audience. That's also why I decided to have very casual outfits
Copyright issues
Copyright in a sound recording is separate from any copyright in the words and music contained in the recording. The first owner of the copyright in a sound recording is usually the record producer. The composer of the music in a sound recording will be the author of the musical work and will usually own the copyright in that music. The lyrics of a song are protected separately by copyright as a literary work and will usually be owned by the person who wrote them. Sound recordings do not have to be original works but they will not be new copyright works if they have been merely copied from existing sound recordings. The length of term of copyright in a sound recording depends on whether or not it has been released or has been communicated to the public.
Music used in my film
I listened to multiple songs on jamendo and after looking for a while I decided to chose this song as it is a happy and uplifting song.
